Carbon Monoxide is a poisonous gas resulting from incomplete combustion of hydrocarbon fuels.

In small quantities Carbon Monoxide can cause severe nausea and vomiting, while in large quantities it can cause asphyxiation and death so the condition of any gas appliances you have should be taken very seriously.

Tragically there was a recent case of multiple deaths resulting from Carbon Monoxide poisoning from a leaking gas heater in a home. What’s worse is this could have been avoided if the heater had been regularly checked by a qualified gasfitter.

The most common cause of Carbon Monoxide presence in homes or buildings is faulty or incorrectly installed flueless gas heaters. Incorrectly installed flued gas heaters can also pose the risk of carbon Monoxide poisoning.

All gas heaters should be regularly serviced by a qualified gasfitter to ensure they are operating correctly and not exposing owners to Carbon Monoxide poisoning and others risks such as leaking gas and burns.
